Fosters On A Mission

Greetings Dear Friends,
As we near the end of our busy summer, the even busier fall is upon us. We thank you for the prayers and encouragement as we continue to raise support for our full‐time and long‐term missions work in Thailand.

Ministry Update

While we seek to raise the financial support needed for our work in Thailand, we are receiving plenty of training as part of the process. Much of this training is from God, preparing our hearts and minds for all that is to come. What a joy it has been to meet with potential supporters, to pray with and encourage each other, and to lift each other up before our gracious and loving God.
In early 2019, we would like to take a 3 to 4‐week survey trip to better prepare for our ministry and move to Thailand. We expect this trip to cost roughly $7,500. Please pray for all four of us to be prepared financially, physically, mentally, and spiritually for this trip.
We have a busy schedule moving forward, and will be presenting our ministry to several churches this fall, including churches that have been instrumental in our faith journey. How exciting it is to share what God is doing in our lives to the many people who have influenced us in a positive way.
On page 2, you will see how finding the right church after we were married played an important role in both our marriage, and our missions ministry.

Support Status

Over the last couple of weeks, we have discovered a discrepancy in the tracking of our support numbers. What we had thought was 20% support was actually 15%. How easy it would be to get discouraged. God, however, will supply all of our needs, and has reminded us by bringing some supporters to us that we cannot fathom how they even know about our ministry. We serve an amazing and all‐powerful God who loves us beyond measure, and we are thrilled to be in His care.
Again, the best support you can give us is to participate in our newsletter and partner with us in prayer. God will call our financial partners, as he already has.

Prayer Requests

In order to make the final move to Thailand, we will need 100% of our monthly support, all of our outfit & passage expenses, and about 7 weeks of intense training courses. Our plans are to complete these requirements by fall of 2019. Pray for these needs, as well as the needs of the unreached people in Thailand who need the gospel message.
Continued praise for God’s provisions! Our missions related expenses to date have been fully covered.  Continue to pray for the 80% in regular monthly support that we still need to raise, and the people who God will call to help meet this need.

A Step Towards Missions: Part Four

A series during our pre‐field development to explore and present the path towards our ministry as missionaries to Thailand.

Andrea & I were married in 1998, and we knew God needed to be at the center of our marriage in order for it to work. We looked in the yellow pages for churches with AWANA, knowing it would indicate the doctrinal position of the church as well as their focus on youth ministry. We chose to attend Woodbridge Community Church in Irvine, California that next Sunday.

What a blessing it is to be loved without condition. We immediately connected with the church family, praised God for his provision, and looked no further.

The men’s and women’s fellowship groups were so important in helping us build a healthy relationship with God. Within weeks we were serving in their AWANA youth program, and as we were building the early foundation of our marriage, God was using our ministry in AWANA to build upon that foundation.  It was through learning Bible verses along with the kids, that Andrea was able to really grow spiritually for the first time.

We joined a group from our church who went with Amor Ministries to a small village in the middle of the world’s largest dump outside of Tijuana, Mexico.  We experienced poverty first‐hand while we gave the children their once‐a-month bath, clothes, and a few small toys. God brought us there to show us the spiritual poverty of those that don’t have an opportunity to hear the gospel.  If our hearts are broken at the sight of financial poverty, how much greater should they break at the knowledge of their spiritual poverty.

Using the skills that my dad had imparted on me, Andrea & I took an active leadership role in the church’s AWANA program. As leaders we evangelized and discipled the Jr. High and Sr. High kids.  A couple of months later we were asked by the Southern California AWANA missionaries, Al & Roberta Wilsey, to be on their advisory board.

Now I had never seen myself as an advisor, and I do not know how well I advised. But that role taught Andrea & I more about serving in ministry than we could ever have imagined.  It provided us the experience of seeing missionaries go through the joys of serving God and being prayed for by supporters, as well as suffering the discouraging attacks from Satan, all from within the same ministry.

Andrea & I are excited to use our experience and gifts to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the unreached people of Thailand. We are also thankful to those who have shared the gospel with us and who have supported our ministries over the years.

We ask our friends to read the following passages for an insight into our calling, but even more importantly, a look at God’s abundant power and amazing grace: Hebrews 10:22‐25, 1 Corinthians 13, Joshua 1:1‐9, Matthew 22:34‐40, Matthew 28‐18‐20. If you do not have a Bible, you can google search each of these passages for easy access.

A’S TO YOUR Q’S

Q: When will you move to Thailand?
A: Fall of 2019…maybe. We need to have 100% of our monthly support raised, be able to cover all of the outfit & passage expenses, and have all of our required training completed before we can move. The monthly support levels do not typically change after a missionary leaves for the field, as they are no longer able to actively raise support while in the field.

Q: What will you be doing as missionaries?
A: God has called us in Matthew 28 to evangelize and disciple. We will use the biblical example of the woman at the well in John 4 to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with those that are unreached. We will also seek to establish churches and train leaders to further develop mission movements within their region. We will teach English classes and establish youth and adult ministry programs to provide opportunities for outreach.
