Fosters On A Mission

Greetings Dear Friends,

It has been a whirlwind of a summer for sure, and we are not done yet.  Keep those prayers coming as you read about our exciting time in ministry.

Ministry Update

Karen joined a stateside ministry team from our church as they traveled to Boise, ID and helped Columbia Heights Baptist Church with their summer VBS program.  It was a great opportunity to explore and express her own ministry calling while sharing that experience with several of her peers.  Pray for her knee, as she dislocated it…again.  We are not sure what impact this might have on her for our trip to Thailand later this month.

We shared our ministry with church congregations in Spokane, Washington and Salem, Oregon.  David shared the example Jesus gave of sharing the gospel with the woman at the well in John chapter 4, and how so often we as Christians do not reflect the fullness of love that we know God to be.  David also shared a letter that has been so well received that we have included it on the back page of this newsletter.

On our upcoming survey trip to Thailand we will spend 3 days in Mae Hong Son, where God began to call us to full-time ministry.  Next, we will be in Chiang Mai for a regional conference where we will be able to fellowship with our field team for the first time.  Then, we head to Sawang Daendin for the survey part of our trip to meet those who we will be working with in ministry and learn more about the area we will soon be calling home.  In 3 weeks we have seen God provide more than $5,000 in one-time gifts toward the cost of this trip, estimated to be ~$6,000.

Pray for more ‘God inspired’ regular financial supporters, and for our upcoming survey trip.  Continue to pray for the needs of the unreached people in Thailand who need the gospel message, and consider who God may want you to share His good news with.

On page 2, we share a letter from God, and how He is leading us to pray for others.

Support Status

Even with no income since February, God has been continuously meeting our immediate financial needs, while moving us ever closer to the month-to-month reliance on His provision.  We are currently at about 38% of our monthly support need.

The best support you can give us is to participate in our newsletter and partner with us in prayer.  Also, prayerfully ask God if he wants you to support us financially.  God will continue to call our financial partners, as he already has.

Homework Assignment Part 2: Prayer

Many people commented on last month’s prayer letter, so we know you read it, but nobody sent us names for us to lift them up.

Think of people in your  life that are in need of healing, comfort, salvation, or restoration with God.  Let us pray for them by first name.

God knows their needs.  We ask for prayer for:

Andy, David, Ed, Emily, Jim, Jeffrey, Jenn, Joel, Johanna, Johnny, Kyle, Lewis, Mike, Mimi, Sarah, Scott, Sheryl, Sigrun, Thora, Todd, Tom, Zach, and our local churches & pastors.

If we truly believe that God has eternally saved us from our sin and punishment, then this space should not be empty, but filled with those we know and love, and even with those we have a difficult time loving.  For God’s forgiveness is not only  for us, but for all.  His healing and restoration is not just for us, but for all.
